Power supply is limited, pushing many data center developers to invest in DERs like wind turbines, solar arrays, battery energy storage and even natural gas turbines and other generation technologies. These technologies reduce reliance on utility power and ensure uptime during utility outages.

Using on-site energy generation in combination with a battery energy storage system can negate the need for generators and UPS infrastructure, saving costs while potentially opening additional revenue streams through utility demand response and peak shaving programs.
